Since 2016, Chimbo Films is a Costa Rican film production company devoted to the art of auteur cinema. With a refined approach to storytelling, we create films that delve into the complexities of human experience, capturing the subtle beauty of everyday life with a distinct narrative voice.
Our work is characterized by a commitment to authenticity and a meticulous attention to detail. Our team of six came together during our university years, where we pursued film as our career. After the success of our collaboration on Tempo, which was honored with the National Culture Award, we decided to unite and form Chimbo Films. Since then, we have built an extensive network of collaborators tailored to the unique needs of each project, drawing on a wide range of talents and expertise to enrich every film with diverse voices and skills.
